About

Living Tradition Summer Schools will offer a quality learning experience and bring international masters of the folk arts to South West Scotland. The ‘arts workshops’ will be strongly based on the traditional arts – music, song, dance and storytelling – but will also include other art and craft activities, tutors and students from relevant local projects.

Living Tradition Summer Schools will be based at Barons Craig, Rockcliffe, on the Solway coast south of Dumfries, and will use ideas, partnerships and experience gained over six years of developing the Common Ground Scotland summer school, which has been held annually in Ayrshire since 2002.

Living Tradition Summer Schools will be a modern style of event that uses the highest quality of traditional arts teaching combined with public performance to provide opportunities for participation and learning at all levels.
